Tiruppani Alwar is root for the Mala Dasaris which goes back to the 8th century. The root comes from Trichy,Sri Rangam, according to Sri Muddam Kodandapani Charyulu, a practising priest from Hyderabad. He has been the priest for last fourteen years.

Please go through the Pasuras that Tiruppani Alwar recites on having the darshan of Lord Ranganatha.The root of Mala Dasari tradition comes from here. He (Tiruppani) had been carried by the Chief Priest Loka Saranga Muni of Srirangam Temple at Sri Rangam on his shoulders to provide darshan on the command of Lord Rangaswami. As soon as Tiruppani is made to  have darshan he recites ten Pasurams and gets merged into Lord Ranganatha attains the statehood of "Alwar" which means merging into the god. I would like to thank Prof. Galla Aruna Kumari for translating the ten Tamil Pasurams into Telugu and giving the explanation of roots of Tiruppani and how he belongs to Dasari community.

Dear Dasaris, Please let me know about the temples in which Mala Dasaris are performing as priests. I have discovered some like Chennakesava Swamy Temple in Uppuluru of West Godavari District, Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Temple in Rudrangi of Karimnagar District. The following are in Kurnool District: Hanuman Mandir was built in 1946 by a Mala Dasari alone with his money in Kurnool Town (the upper caste people are trying to grab the temple from the Mala Dasari and he has been threatened from all sources; suggestions are invited to protect the temple, create awareness, make our community people visit the temple, make it a successful temple and create history)Chintala Muni Swami Temple in Tangadadana,Gonegandla Mandal, Chintala Muni Swami Temple in Kallur Estate; Tikka Lakshmi Amma Devalayam's diety herself is a Mala Dasari, of course the priest is a Brahmin. Whatever information you give will be part of our history book on Mala Dasari. Do contribute and it will be greatly acknowledged.
